Health & Safety Awareness
Target Audience
The course is intended to make candidates aware of the key health and safety issues and the part that they should play in keeping themselves and others free from harm in the workplace.
It is particularly useful for anyone entering the workplace for the first time, either as part of a work experience programme or at the start of employment and those starting a new job or as part of their induction programme/ refresher course.
Course Aims
The course will enable candidates to understand the health and safety requirements placed on employers and employees and how their own actions can reduce risks to health and safety. The qualification will benefit employers who require employees to have an understanding of health and safety so they can contribute to any risk assessment based health and safety management system.
Course Objectives
The qualification covers the following topics:
ï‚· Understand the importance of health and safety in the workplace
ï‚· Identify the hazards and risks related to the workplace
ï‚· Understand workplace health and safety procedures
Course Duration
This course is normally delivered over ‘a half day’ (3 hours). Delegates who successfully complete the course are awarded a Basic Health & Safety Awareness certificate. This must be renewed every three years and it is recommended that annual updates are also attended.
