(SOVA) Awareness
Target Audience
This course has been designed for those employed in the public, private or voluntary adult social care services sector but will also be suitable for employees working in other settings where there are individuals classified as vulnerable adults.
Course Aims
This course focuses on ensuring staff are adhering to current All Wales Adult Protection policy, procedures and legislation.
Following legislation that care employees are to receive training in the Protection/Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults in order to understand how and why people abuse others, how to recognise signs and symptoms and the reporting procedures within the place they work.

Course Objectives
This course covers the following topics and participants will be able to:

Define abuse

Identify different forms of abuse

List possible indicators of abuse

Explain actions they need to take under the Wales interim Policy & Procedure for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse in response to abuse

Understand their role in safeguarding vulnerable adults
Course Duration
This course is normally delivered over ‘one day’ (6 hours). Delegates who successfully complete the course are awarded a certificate of attendance.
